Report from Istanbul Fashion Conference 2013

Every year the Turkish Clothing Manufacturers Association (TGSD) presents a prestigious program where 500 of the hottest names in fashion business get together. This was year was no exception with keynote speakers like Jonathan Akeroyd, CEO of Alexander McQueen headlining the event.

Global brands like VOGUE, PANTONE, Sainsbury’s, Debenhams were present active participants, and the business side of fashion was also represented by speakers from the Bloomberg financial magazine and Roman Hazir Clothing and Textile Inc.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at the conference, emphasizing the important contribution of the fashion industry on Turkey’s accelerating economy.

The event was held at the Shangri-la Hotel, who facilitated a professional and well executed event. Our Turkish partner ASTAS was main sponsor on the grand event. Several industry innovations were showcased in the spacious hotel entrance, and we right at the front row demonstrating our StyleShoots photo studio to an excited crowd.

“We looked at e-commerce photography and wondered why it’s possible to send a man to the moon, but still so hard to cut away the background from images. We decided to fix that.”

Maurits Teunissen, CEO of StyleShoots held a 30 min presentation giving insights into the philosophy behind the photo machine that has become a global success in less than 2 years, with customers such as Tommy Hilfiger, Marks & Spencer and Bebetto in Turkey.

StyleShoots revolutionized product photography in 2011 with it’s patented simplicity and Auto Alpha dual-shot technology that cuts out images ready for web and catalogues in seconds.

Turkey’s economy is still booming, and there can be no doubt that the Fashion industry is one of the driving forces, being further accelerated by a young population and a high internet penetration per capita.

We want to thank the Turkish Clothing Manufacturers Association and ASTAS for arranging this amazing event, and we hope to be back next year!
